interviewing lauren

One of my favourite series on the blog is the interviewing... series. I'm so lucky because I get to contact all of these inspiring and gorgeous bloggers and instagrammers and ask them all I want... and then share it with you! I try to choose people who I know inspire all of you, and Lauren is definitely one of them. Lauren has established a blog named Lauren Australia (which you can find here), and currently has over 40k followers on instagram. As well as being such a lovely person, her style and creativity is stunning. I hope you enjoy the interview and thank you so much to Lauren for answering all the questions! x

When and why did you start your blog? /

I started my Instagram a few years ago and my blog about a year ago as a way to connect with other people and express my creative ideas!

How much has your Instagram and blog changed since then? /

My Instagram has changed quite a bit in the time i’ve been blogging - I definitely started out posting more along the lines of my pets and Harry Potter, and i’ll admit I went through that tumblry hispter photo phase too! It was people like Margaret Zhang and Chiara Ferragni that inspired me to start lifestyle blogging, and taking a bit more time and care with my photos. Even then my original ‘blog’ photos are nothing special.

Who inspires you and who are your favourite bloggers/ Instagrammers? /

I’m inspired by the likes of Margaret Zhang and Jasmine Dowling. I think they both have different and unique styles that I try and incorporate into my own work, and really admire their success.

How do you edit your photos and keep a good and consistent feed? /

I use two things to edit my photos. The first is Fotor on my laptop where I adjust the brightness and contrast (and sometimes temperature) of the photo to make it look clean and well balanced with colour. Then I airdrop the photos to my phone and use VSCO with the filter HB1. VSCO is also great because it has the same layout as Instagram, so i’m able to see how all my photos will look together and try different things before actually posting them! The consistency comes with my continuous flatlays and similar theme for what I want to post.

What is the best present you have every received? /

The best presents for me are always photos. I love being able to have hard copies of memories to hang around my room and see.

A funny or embarrassing story? /

It’s always funny going out to restaurants and seeing the waiters reactions when I start arranging the table for photos as the food arrives. They never quite know what to do!

What is the best thing about Instagram/blogging? /

Definitely being able to connect with likeminded bloggers and share my content with people all over the world.

What 3 things make your day? /

Being able to see friends, eat good food and make music.

What is the favourite thing in your room? /

Probably my bed! It’s where the majority of my blogging gets done.

Your perfect day looks like… /

Waking up late and being able to walk down to a local cafe to meet a friend for lunch, then taking some photos and working on some blog posts before settling in to watch The Voice at night!

That's it for todays post! I really hope you liked it and be sure to follow Lauren if you aren't already (@laurenaustralia) xx
PS: We hit 10k page views on here in less than a year! This is a momentous achievement and I can't thank you enough :) xxx Taila
