one year of blogging / october calendar

Can you believe it?! One year has just flowwwwn by and its crazy to think that a year ago, I was sitting right here googling blogs and setting up my instagram! Since then, I've achieved and learnt so much. On Tuesday I celebrated The Blank Diary's first birthday, but due to it being the last week of school I completely forgot about it until about 9:00 that night, and therefore completely forgot about this post I had ready to upload. Apologies.
Anyways, I didn't really know what to do in this post. There were a million ways I could've said thank you and a million things I could've posted, yet when I sat here and wrote this post nothing seemed right. I'll start by telling you a little bit about the beginning of my blog, and a comparison of now vs one year ago, and something that I've taken out of starting a blog.
You will also be able to find my October calendar at the bottom of the post. Me being me, I've enjoyed my first days of holidays way too much and haven't printed it yet and taken any photos of it as I usually do. I'm sure you get the idea though!!

How my blog started /

A friend of mine had a blog, it was only small but it was beautiful. After many scrolls on her blog and instagram of going "wow, that looks so fun", I decided to do a bit of research. Somehow I found Meet Me In Melford, who I DM'd on my personal account probably saying something really random and awkward, but she helped me so much and answered my hundreds of questions. I started up my blog using Blogger.com, and I wrote my first blog post, which was a Get To Know Me, where I also randomly put in a little question at the bottom which no one replied to :( Link here hehe.
Anyways, I set up my instagram, asked around for a couple of shoutouts, told a few friends, and from there it has grown so much! Here's a little comparison....

A tip for everyone (blogger or not!) /

I've written this blog post about 5 times, writing about the things I've achieved and learnt, and some tips for you all, but they all came back to the same thing. You just have to give everything a go. If you start up a blog, or if it's something completely different like a new sport or hobby, it may open new doors and become a new interest. Or, it might not be for you. But you'll never know if you don't give it a go. If one year ago I hadn't thought - hey, whats a blog? then I wouldn't be here, writing to hundreds of readers and showing over 1000 people my life on instagram. It's probably one of the most important things I've learnt, and I've been applying this to my everyday life too.

A couple of highlights / 

Every year I want to look back on past blog posts, photo shoots and instagrams, and so I've chosen a couple to put in this post. Hopefully this is a tradition that continues!!

 

So, other than that, all I wanted to say was thank you! As well as being something that I just loved doing, it was because of you guys that I am still going and that I still enjoy it as much as I do. As I said in my instagram post, blogging has been a life changer, confidence booster and an overall pleasure to do, and I'm so glad I do it. I know I have been a bit (very) lazy this past month in terms of posting, but I promise you I have lots planned... including videos, fashion posts, and a new blog design/possibly a new blog!!
